Introduce yourself and your business. How long have you been involved with eBay?

Hello my name is Lina and I have been involved with eBay for a number of years. It started as a part time hobby and has become something much bigger and exciting.

What type of products do you sell? How did you decide on these products?

I sell jewellery however the last couple of years I only sell our most popular type which are personalized name necklaces in precious metals such as silver, white gold, yellow gold and pink gold with diamonds, gems or plain. The pendant has any name or word the customer wants and it is attached to a beautiful chain.

How hard was it for you to become a power seller on eBay? How long did it take you?

It wasn't something that I tried to achieve it just came with all the hard work and dedication I put into my eBay store.

There are many programs to help selling on eBay. Which software tools do you use and why?

I do not actually use any of the programs. I have a physical store in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and all my orders from eBay go through my established filing system from my store.

What is the biggest mistake you think people make on eBay?

They do not send an email asking about the product before they purchase it. Because I sell and buy from eBay I understand both sides of the transaction and a lot of mistakes and misunderstandings can be cleared up with an email before buying the product.

What advice would you give to someone starting an online business with eBay?

Do not start too big listing millions of items. Start small so you can really understand how things work before you get big.

What’s your favourite method of generating traffic to your eBay auctions?

I think word of mouth has been the best tool. Customers have been so happy with our product that they just keep telling their friends about it which in turn have contacted us. Our items are unique and not very expensive so they are great for thoughtful gifts.  

Do you have any big plans for your eBay business in the near future?

Yes I definitely plan on getting bigger and better.
